Fundació Miró in Barcelona:
José Lluís Sert (1902-1983),architect and town planner, was deeply influenced by the modern movement and especially by Le Corbusier (they worked together).
He was a cofounder of GATCPAC and contributed to the modernization and progress of Spanish architecture.
At the end of the Spanish Civil War he was exiled to the U.S. where he would do the bulk of his work. By the late '60s, Sert and his friend Joan Miró began to think up a museum. It was conceived as an open space, with large terraces and interior courtyards to allow a proper circulation of visitors.
It is based on the rationalists principles, with some spaces arranged around a central courtyard, a feature of Mediterranean architecture, and the usual skylights of Sert's works.
